Bob's ART du Jour

Hi, I'm Bob Eggleton and this is my painting and "life in general blog" but mostly paintings. Usually they're for sale. Anyway, if you like something contact me at zillabob@cox.net and ENJOY!!

Location: New England, United States

I am a Hugo award-winning fantasy/SF artist who works on both publishing projects and film concept work(such as Jimmy Neutron and most recently, The Ant Bully) but I have a passion for landscape work, small paintings and exploring the properties of paint. This blog will mostly showcase my "painting-for-the-day" as kind of a personal voyage. I'll also be inserting sketches, photos and ideas of projects I am working on, that I can, when I can, so look for those every so often(usually as paint is drying!)

Castles Tall, I've Built Them All...

The Lonely Castle(8x10, oils, SOLD)
I felt like another castle ruin to paint, just to play with reflections and such. I borrowed a bit from Thomas Cole in terms of mood here. He would always successfully so, paint epic images of landscapes with stormy skies. Again, I used palette knife around the rocks, and various media with the oils themselves.

A note-I'm going to be more sporadic. Please do check in with my blog, but I'm coming into a "busy" time, so, I am fairly stating the paintings will be more like 3 times a week, maybe four if doable. I just don't want to feel like it's "one more thing to do", and I 'd rather put the joy into them. So, if a few days goes by and nothing new appears, fear not, I will be updating soon!!! This whole thing is for both yours and my enjoyment, so please bear with me-thanks!!

I like your skies more and more. Something about the contrast between heavy clouds and late sun. The stillness of the lake makes the scene quiet.

Thanks Tessa. I like doing these because they lend an air of some time, a long time ago. The mood, the sun, all of it.

I really like how your castles almost grow right out of your mountains. Sometines you have to look twice. Really like that effect.
